LinkRouter Notify me at launch

Privacy Policy

Updated 29 August 2026

The short version

LinkRouter collects no data. It has no account, no server and no analytics. Everything it knows — which browsers you chose, the rules you saved, how many links it routed this week — lives in its sandbox container on your Mac and nowhere else.

What the app stores, and where

  • Preferences — your picker (up to four browsers or profiles), primary browser, launch-at-login and menu-bar settings.
  • Rules — the sites you asked it to remember (“This URL”, “Entire domain”) and the browser each one opens in.
  • Counts — how many links were routed, kept for the current week. Counts stay on this Mac.

All of it is in ~/Library/Containers/com.modernsoftwareworks.LinkRouter. Delete the app and that folder, and nothing remains.

Links

When you click a link, LinkRouter hands it to the browser you choose. It does not read the page, follow the link, or send the address anywhere. The app makes no network requests of its own.

Browser profiles

Profile routing is optional. To list a browser’s profiles, LinkRouter asks you once — through macOS’s standard open panel — for access to that browser’s data folder, and then reads only the single file that names the profiles. For Safari it asks macOS for permission to control Safari and uses only the names of windows you have open. You can decline any of these; the app remains fully usable without profiles.

This website

This site is static. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and makes no requests to third parties. It is served by Cloudflare, whose infrastructure logs may record standard request metadata such as IP address and user agent in order to deliver the page.
